A Return to Familiar Grounds
This is Chivu’s third chapter at Inter: first as a player from 2007 to 2014, then as a youth coach from 2018 to 2024, and now as the senior team manager. His appointment comes sooner than expected, following Simone Inzaghi’s departure to Saudi Arabia.
Experienced Support Staff
To support him, Inter has assembled a seasoned staff. Giovanni Martusciello will serve as assistant coach. Previously part of staffs at Inter, Juventus, and Lazio, he brings valuable experience. Mario Cecchi, formerly with Inzaghi, remains as tactical coach, while Stefano Rapetti takes over fitness preparation. Rapetti returns after working with Mourinho, Roma, and Fenerbahce. Paolo Orlandoni and Gianluca Spinelli will oversee goalkeeping duties.
Leadership and Trust
Chivu will be accompanied by his trusted assistant Angelo Palombo, also a former Inter player. The leadership team is designed to shield Chivu and allow him to focus on implementing his footballing philosophy. Despite a limited squad during the international break, his vision is being shared with senior players via calls before the full team convenes in California on June 14.
Building the New Inter
The new era is about continuity and ambition. The club is eager to recapture the unity and spirit of the treble-winning squad, and the presence of figures like Orlandoni and Rapetti is seen as symbolic. As Inter prepares for its next chapter, Chivu steps into the spotlight, with expectations high and the desire to return to winning ways already in motion.
