Home » ״Juventus Shut the Door on Me״: Chiesa Speaks Out on Exit, Slot, and Future Ambitions

In an in-depth interview, Federico Cheisa, former Juventus forward opened up about his departure from the club, his admiration for Arne Slot, and his goals for the future, including a return to top form and a place in the next World Cup.
Asked about Liverpool’s new manager, he was quick to praise Slot’s modern approach.
“His winning mentality reminds me of Allegri, but his methodology is different, more Dutch, more progressive. Many doubted him at first, but he’s shown he’s a great coach with innovative ideas.”
Despite spending four seasons with the Bianconeri, he revealed that the club never offered a contract renewal.
“There were talks about discussing it after the European Championship, but no one followed up. When I came back after the holidays and my wedding, I spoke directly with Thiago Motta. He told me plainly: ‘You’re not part of the project, find yourself a team.’”
He admitted the clarity was appreciated, but the outcome was still painful.
“They let me train for two weeks, then Motta said he didn’t want me anymore. I’m a professional, I accepted it and kept training to stay in shape. But yes, it was a big disappointment. I love Juventus and felt I still had something to give. I was there for four years, always behaved properly, but in the end, it was their call.”
A potential return to Serie A isn’t ruled out.
“It’s something we’ll evaluate this summer. I have a good relationship with Liverpool, and we’ll find the best solution together. As for Milan and Allegri, he’s a winner and a great fit. He was the one who showed me I could play as a second striker, which really helped expand my game.”
“Not at all. I didn’t play much this past season in the Premier League, but that’s part of football. It takes time to settle and get in shape. I know I have what it takes to reach my best again.”
He admitted to being surprised by Juve’s recent struggles.
“I still have many friends there, so it’s tough to watch. I didn’t expect things to end like that. They reached the Champions League, but at Juve, fourth place is just the minimum. It’s not enough. As for Vlahovic. I’d tell him to follow his heart and choose whatever lets him show his full potential. He’s a great player.”
Looking ahead, the goal is clear.
“I want next season to be my season. I’ve already won a European Championship, now my dream is to play in a World Cup. That would be the ultimate achievement.”
