- Inter demands clarity from Calhanoglu amid Fenerbahce interest
- No formal offer has arrived yet from the Turkish club
- Inter set a €25 million price tag for the midfielder
- Granit Xhaka could replace him if he leaves
Hakan Calhanoglu’s future remains unclear, but Inter wants answers now. Fenerbahce has shown interest, yet no official bid has reached Milan. The Nerazzurri are growing impatient and expect clarity.
Weeks of speculation from Turkey have created tension. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio already criticized Galatasaray’s approach and now treats Fenerbahce’s silence the same way. The club won’t entertain further talks without a written proposal.
Today could be decisive. Inter expects a formal offer from Fenerbahce that confirms whether the interest is serious. The club values Calhanoglu at €25 million and has already considered a replacement: Granit Xhaka. The Swiss midfielder fits their system and offers experience.
For Fenerbahce, signing the Turkish national team captain would be symbolic. It would also deliver a blow to rivals Galatasaray. But time is short. Calhanoglu will return to Appiano Gentile this week after recovering from a calf injury. Inter doesn’t want another long saga like last year’s chase for Koopmeiners.
If Fenerbahce fails to act soon, Inter will focus on Xhaka. Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, admitted they’re open to discussions. “He’ll leave only if it benefits everyone,” Rolfes said.
Inter made their position clear: they won’t wait forever. If Fenerbahce wants Calhanoglu, now is the time to prove it.
