Home » Juventus Eye Xhaka and Bissouma to Reinforce Midfield, Sancho on Standby

Juventus are working on a sweeping revamp of their midfield and attacking options this summer as the club aims to reshape the squad around Igor Tudor’s ideas. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bianconeri have made Bayer Leverkusen’s experienced midfielder Granit Xhaka one of their main targets, with Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma also in consideration. Meanwhile, Francisco Conceiçao remains the preferred choice to reinforce the flanks, though negotiations with Porto continue to be complicated, while Jadon Sancho is viewed as the main alternative.
Juventus are searching for a midfielder with leadership, tactical awareness, and experience to complement Khephren Thuram, Manuel Locatelli, and Weston McKennie. While Sandro Tonali remains the dream signing, Newcastle have shown little willingness to negotiate below €60–70 million. Davide Frattesi also remains under observation, but financial constraints are pushing the club toward more sustainable solutions.
Xhaka, 32, is seen as a cost-effective reinforcement. The Swiss international was a leader in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga triumph under Xabi Alonso and is open to a new adventure. Juventus believe an offer in the region of €12–15 million could be enough to secure his signature. The player’s contract situation and Bayer’s readiness to consider a sale have encouraged the Bianconeri to accelerate talks, especially if Douglas Luiz can be offloaded to free up salary space and transfer budget.
Alongside Xhaka, Bissouma remains firmly on Juventus’ shortlist. Sporting director Damien Comolli retains strong connections at Tottenham from his previous roles, which could help unlock a deal. Spurs are reportedly willing to negotiate for Bissouma, who has just a year left on his contract and is valued between €15–20 million.
The Malian midfielder’s non-EU status complicates matters. Juventus have already used one of their non-EU slots to sign Jonathan David on a free transfer, and filling the second with Bissouma would limit flexibility for future foreign signings, particularly in attack. Comolli is therefore weighing whether to reserve that spot for other targets if funds allow.
On the wings, Tudor has made it clear that he wants Francisco Conceiçao back in the squad after the Portuguese winger’s promising performances during the season and Club World Cup. Juventus initially secured Conceiçao on loan from Porto, paying €7 million plus €3 million in bonuses. Now, Porto are demanding the player’s €30 million release clause be paid in full — and upfront — which Juventus consider excessive.
Talks are ongoing to reduce that figure or spread payments over several seasons. Comolli is also exploring creative formulas to ease the financial burden, though Juventus are aware other clubs are monitoring the situation. Conceiçao himself is keen to continue in Turin and would accept a modest salary compared to other wingers at this level.
If negotiations for Conceiçao collapse, Jadon Sancho is the clear Plan B. The England international, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea, has informed Manchester United that he wants to leave permanently. United, whose season preparations have begun, have extended his vacation, effectively inviting him to finalize a transfer.
Sancho’s contract expires in June 2026, putting United under pressure to cash in. His price tag reportedly starts at around €25 million, though that figure could fall if no acceptable offers emerge. The real challenge would be agreeing personal terms, as Sancho’s Premier League salary far exceeds Juventus’ wage structure.
The Bianconeri are determined to clarify their plans quickly. With the preseason training camp starting July 24, Juventus want to secure at least one new midfielder and decide between Conceiçao and Sancho before then. More exits, including Douglas Luiz and other fringe players, could further influence which deals are prioritized.
While Tonali remains an unlikely dream and Frattesi a domestic option, the combination of Xhaka or Bissouma in midfield and either Conceiçao or Sancho out wide could define Juventus’ summer strategy. Fans can expect further updates in the coming weeks as Comolli and Tudor shape the squad for an ambitious return to the top of Serie A.
