“Bologna FC 1909 communicates that it has acquired the sporting rights of Federico Bernardeschi,” the club wrote. “Born in 1994, he is a left-footed player with strong technical skills. He is comfortable playing as a trequartista, winger, or wide midfielder. Bernardeschi is known for his dribbling, ball control, and powerful long-range shots.”
He began his football journey at Atletico Carrara. He later moved to Polisportiva Ponzano and then joined Fiorentina’s youth system. A loan spell at Crotone in Serie B helped launch his top-flight career. He returned to Fiorentina and scored 11 goals in the 2016–17 season, his most productive in Serie A.
That form earned him a transfer to Juventus. He played five seasons in Turin, winning three Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia, and one Supercoppa Italiana. In 2022, he joined Toronto FC in MLS. He became their all-time top league scorer with 25 goals.
Bernardeschi also played a key role for Italy at Euro 2020. He scored in the penalty shootout that secured the final victory over England at Wembley.
Now back in Italy, Bernardeschi brings quality and experience to Bologna. Coach Italiano gains a versatile attacker, and fans get a new number 10 to cheer for at the Dall’Ara.
