Our prediction
We are calling Roma 3-0 Sl. Bratislava. The single biggest reason is the gap in defensive solidity: Roma have conceded just 3 goals in 6 Serie A games, while the only result we have for Sl. Bratislava is a 6-1 defeat away to PSG.
Form guide
Roma arrive unbeaten. They sit third in Serie A with 14 points from 6 games, 4 wins, 2 draws and no defeats, scoring 14 and conceding 3. That is a side that rarely gives anything away and usually finds a way to score.
- Roma 2-1 Atalanta (Serie A)
- Fenerbahçe 1-1 Roma (Champions League)
- Torino 0-2 Roma (Serie A)
- Roma 2-2 Inter (Serie A)
- Como 1907 0-0 Roma (Serie A)
Read for meaning, the run says two things. First, Roma handle the bigger tests at home: they beat Atalanta and held Inter, two strong opponents, at their own ground. Second, the attack has cooled slightly in the most recent outings, with a goalless draw at Como 1907 the latest result. Even so, a team that has kept clean sheets at Torino and Como 1907 is not one that leaks goals, and the overall league numbers, more than two goals scored per game on average, show the attack is far from blunt.
Sl. Bratislava give us much less to go on. The one result in our data is PSG 6-1 Sl. Bratislava in the Champions League. One match against one of Europe’s strongest sides does not define a team, but conceding six in a single night is a clear sign that the step up to this level has been hard, and that they can be opened up when pressed by a side with quality in attack.
Head-to-head
There is no head-to-head record between these clubs in our data. That leaves current form and the obvious difference in level as the main guide, and both point the same way.
Team news
Team news as of 20 October 2026 (Sky Sport Italia, Gianluca Di Marzio, Sportnet SME, Denník Šport, TASR). Roma (Gian Piero Gasperini): Roma will again be without first-choice goalkeeper Mile Svilar, who is recovering from a stress fracture in his finger. Manu Koné suffered a first-degree muscle injury against Real Madrid, while Bryan Cristante is not expected back yet. Gasperini said Cristante should be available for Napoli and could rejoin the group from Wednesday or Thursday. Paulo Dybala is also out. Gasperini told Sky that the latest scan showed a minor lesion, so his recovery will take a couple of weeks longer. Malen, after missing the Genoa game through his league suspension, returns to the starting line-up in the Champions League. Doubts: Pellegrini is favourite to replace Dybala, with Mora expected to start on the bench. Some outlets also suggest Balerdi could give Ndicka a rest, and Gasperini has considered pairing Santiago Castro and Malen during the game. Expected formation 3-4-2-1: Gollini; Mancini, Ndicka, Hermoso; Molina, Pisilli, de Roon, Wesley; Soulé, Pellegrini; Malen.
Slovan Bratislava (Yaya Touré): Captain Andraž Šporar did not travel to Italy with the squad. He also missed Saturday’s league derby in Trnava and is still unwell. Roman Čerepkai is also out after being kicked in the back against Stuttgart. Another forward, Adam Griger, is not on the squad list, which leaves Touré with a tough job sorting out his attack. Expected formation 4-2-3-1, but a reliable XI is not yet available. The Italian predicted line-ups seen so far still have Šporar or Griger up front, which goes against the Slovak reports. Most previews have Takáč in goal, with Blackman, Bajrić, Marković and Cruz in defence and Mustafić and Pokorný in midfield. Other previews put Rahim Ibrahim alongside Pokorný instead. In Saturday’s win at Trnava the side was Takáč; Blackman, Markovič, Bajrič, Cruz; Ibrahim, Pokorný, Gajdoš; Barseghjan, Griger, Suleiman Camara. Barseghyan and Camara should start in attack, but it is not yet clear who will lead the line.
What decides it
- Roma’s home record against good teams. Beating Atalanta and drawing with Inter at home shows Roma can impose themselves on their own ground. Against a side that does not have that level of quality, they should control territory and the ball for long spells.
- Sl. Bratislava’s defending under pressure. Six goals conceded in Paris suggests that once the visitors fall behind, they struggle to stop the damage. An early Roma goal would make a comfortable margin very likely.
- Roma’s own defence. Three conceded in six league games, with clean sheets at Torino and Como 1907, means Sl. Bratislava will need something special to score. The one goal they managed in Paris shows they are capable, but Roma give far fewer chances away than most.
The one note of caution is Roma’s recent finishing: the 0-0 at Como 1907 shows they can have a quiet night in front of goal. That is why we stop at three rather than going higher, and why our confidence is Medium rather than High given how little data we have on the visitors.
Verdict
Roma are unbeaten, defend as well as anyone in Serie A on these numbers, and play at home against a side that conceded six on their last Champions League outing. Expect Roma to control the game and pull clear as it goes on. Our call: Roma 3-0 Sl. Bratislava.
